On May 19, 2024, at approximately 11:29 a.m., deputies from the Central Station responded to a report of found skeletal remains on a property located in the 11400 block of San Timoteo Canyon Road, Loma Linda. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division has since taken over the investigation after determining that the remains were human.

Between May 18 and May 24, 2024, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, along with deputies from patrol stations, served 14 search warrants and contacted suspects at various locations in Ontario, Fontana, and Rialto.

Retail theft suspect arrested after assaulting store employee in Hesperia
On May 15, 2024, deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to a theft and robbery report at Stater Bros. Market located at 15757 Main Street in Hesperia. The suspect, identified as Ginny Nicholson, a 25-year-old resident of Victorville, entered the store and concealed alcohol inside a bag. When a store employee attempted to stop her, Nicholson assaulted the employee before fleeing the scene. The employee was later transported to a local hospital and treated for a broken nose and lacerations.

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at approximately 7:01 a.m., deputies from the Twin Peaks Station responded to a medical aid call on the 28000 block of Lakes Edge Road in Lake Arrowhead. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased male adult.

Operation Consequences: A week-long targeted crime suppression in San Bernardino County
From May 11 to May 17, 2024, a concerted crime suppression effort named Operation Consequences was conducted in various locations across San Bernardino County. The operation involved investigators from the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, and multiple patrol stations. Personnel from California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, Ontario Police Department, Upland Police Department, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations also participated.

Narcotics search operation conducted at High Desert Detention Center
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, a comprehensive search was conducted at the High Desert Detention Center (HDDC), located at 9438 Commerce Way, Adelanto. The operation involved numerous personnel from HDDC, narcotics detection canines from San Bernardino County Probation, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division, and Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The operation resulted in the successful recovery of weapons and dangerous contraband from within the jail facility.

Victorville man arrested for murder following motel shooting
On May 10, 2024, at approximately 1:26 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station were dispatched to a reported shooting at the Motel 6 on Stoddard Wells Road. Upon arrival, they discovered that Jontae Marsh, a 19-year-old resident of Victorville, had been shot. Marsh was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Hesperia man arrested for alleged sex crimes following undercover operation
On May 9, 2024, a resident of Hesperia, Thomas Patrick Hannett, was arrested on charges of sex crimes involving a minor. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail, and the Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) had conducted an undercover chat operation on April 18, 2024.

Victorville woman found deceased following reported shooting
On May 9, 2024, at approximately 3:10 p.m., deputies from Victorville responded to a reported shooting at a residence located in the 16300 block of Orick Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered Stephanie Santacruz, a 37-year-old female resident of Victorville, suffering from a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lethal force used in encounter with armed pedestrian in Victorville
On May 9, 2024, at 9:58 a.m., deputies from the Victorville Station responded to multiple calls regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision on Mariposa Road. Callers reported that the pedestrian, later identified as Nicholas Contreras, was hit by a second vehicle as he continued to walk around after the first collision.
