On Saturday, May 11, 2024, a comprehensive search was conducted at the High Desert Detention Center (HDDC), located at 9438 Commerce Way, Adelanto. The operation involved numerous personnel from HDDC, narcotics detection canines from San Bernardino County Probation, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Division, and Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The operation resulted in the successful recovery of weapons and dangerous contraband from within the jail facility.

During the search, narcotics detection canines alerted to the presence of narcotics within several pieces of U.S. mail that had been sent to inmates housed at the facility. Furthermore, these canines detected the presence of narcotics inside the inmate housing unit. The investigation is ongoing as further analysis is needed to determine the type and quantity of narcotics recovered.

The detention staff continues to work tirelessly to prevent the smuggling of narcotics into correctional facilities. These efforts are vital for maintaining safety and security for both staff and inmates while also preventing drug-related issues and overdoses within these facilities. The detention staff remains dedicated to their mission of keeping jails drug-free and will continue using all available resources to achieve this objective.

For further information on this matter, please refer to Deputy Zachary Carlos at Detentions and Corrections Bureau or contact him at 909-387-3727.
