On April 5, 2025, a group of off-road enthusiasts convened for an unsanctioned event in Lucerne Valley. Several hundred attendees brought side-by-side vehicles to the gathering. Four deputies, using two Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Jeeps, patrolled the area to educate participants on OHV laws and ensure compliance with California regulations. Efforts focused on promoting safe and appropriate usage of OHVs, proper safety equipment, and awareness of legal riding areas.

During this event, deputies engaged with nearly 125 off-roaders. One individual was arrested for possessing a stolen vehicle, and deputies issued several citations related to operating OHVs on public roads, registration violations, and helmet requirements. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department emphasizes the importance for off-road enthusiasts to stay informed on local and state laws for safe and legal OHV operation in the area.

The department encourages residents of the Victor Valley to report illegal OHV activities directly to Sheriff’s Dispatch at (760) 245-4211. Non-urgent OHV concerns can also be conveyed via the Department’s OHV email address at [email protected].
