Deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to a call on a man down in a wash area near Pershing Drive and Montrose Way in Adelanto on April 10, 2025, at around 6:15 p.m. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered two males with gunshot wounds. A firearm was also found at the location.

The deceased were identified as Michael Williams, 35, and his 14-year-old son, both residents of Barstow. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division took over the case, and both bodies were taken to the Coroner’s Office. "Through investigation, the decedents were identified as Michael Williams and his son, a 14-year-old male juvenile."

Michael Williams was determined to have died by suicide, though investigators are "still working to determine a cause of death for the juvenile." The investigation remains ongoing.
