On May 10, 2024, at approximately 1:26 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Station were dispatched to a reported shooting at the Motel 6 on Stoddard Wells Road. Upon arrival, they discovered that Jontae Marsh, a 19-year-old resident of Victorville, had been shot. Marsh was subsequently transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Several individuals present at the scene were detained by deputies for questioning. The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail was then called in to take over the investigation.
The ensuing investigation revealed that Marsh had been involved in a physical altercation with Terry Williams, a 29-year-old resident of Victorville. During this confrontation, Williams reportedly retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and shot Marsh. Williams was arrested and is currently being held without bail at the High Desert Detention Center.
