Between May 4 and May 10, 2024, Operation Consequences was launched in several locations across San Bernardino County. The operation was a targeted crime suppression initiative led by investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, along with deputies from patrol stations. The locations included the 200 Block of Seco Second St., Perris; 200 Block of Fashion Way, Banning; 9200 Block of Second Ave., Hesperia; 16500 Block of Orange St., Hesperia; 2000 Block of Sterling Ave., San Bernardino; and the 11600 Block of Bartlett Ave., Adelanto.
During this period, investigators served nine search warrants and contacted suspects at various locations in Perris, Banning, Hesperia, San Bernardino, and Adelanto. These contacts involved gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. As a result of these interactions, over three and one-half pounds of illegal narcotics were recovered, and 22 firearms were seized. Notably among these firearms were 14 ghost guns. Additionally, eight felony arrests were made during this time.
The operation was made possible through funding authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors for county-wide crime suppression. The intent behind this funding is to provide additional resources to the Sheriff’s Department to enhance law enforcement services related to quality-of-life issues affecting communities within the county.
Operation Consequences will focus on conducting targeted crime suppression operations primarily in the High Desert area and the Sheriff’s jurisdiction surrounding the city of San Bernardino. Personnel from various divisions including the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations will be involved in this operation alongside California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
The operation is set to continue over the next several months with an aim to curb violent crime, disrupt and dismantle targeted criminal street gangs, and locate and arrest criminals who are illegally possessing, manufacturing, and trafficking firearms.
