On August 19, 2024, at approximately 6:48 a.m., Hesperia Station deputies responded to a call regarding suspicious circumstances in a dirt field southeast of Sultana Street and Escondido Avenue. Upon arrival, deputies found Aaron Neal, a 19-year-old resident of Hesperia, deceased with evident signs of trauma.
On August 19, 2024, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail, concluded an undercover chat operation. During the operation, Robert Anthony Rodriguez responded to a posting on an anonymous chat site by an undercover detective with the Crimes Against Children Detail. Rodriguez initiated a conversation with the detective, who was pretending to be a 13-year-old girl.

On Sunday, August 18, 2024, at approximately 7:24 a.m., deputies from the Big Bear Station responded to Bear Creek Resort in the 40200 block of Big Bear Boulevard, Big Bear Lake. They located a Hispanic male adult with injuries consistent with a homicide. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Between August 17 and August 23, 2024, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division, along with deputies from patrol stations, served six search warrants and contacted suspects at various locations in San Bernardino, Colton, and Rancho Cucamonga.
On August 17, 2024, at approximately 5:13 p.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a stabbing at Los Coras Sea Food Market on 6th Street in Bloomington. Upon arrival, deputies found Octavio Tarin, a 43-year-old resident of San Bernardino, outside the business with stab wounds. American Medical Response pronounced Tarin deceased at the scene.
