Deputies from the Highland station responded to a call regarding an unwanted subject on February 18, 2025. The incident occurred in the 6900 block of Seine Avenue, Highland, where an unknown Hispanic male adult was reported to be on a home's front porch and refusing to leave.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered the suspect holding an item in his hand. Despite commands to drop the object, the suspect charged at the deputies. This led to a lethal force encounter where gunfire struck the suspect. He was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. No other injuries were reported during this event.

The Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division detectives have taken over the investigation. The suspect's identity is pending confirmation, but he will face charges for violating PC 69-Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer.
