Deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department responded to an incident at La Petite Academy in Victorville on March 18, 2025. The response was prompted by the discovery of unknown blue pills in a classroom. The staff at La Petite Academy collected the pills and promptly notified law enforcement.

A deputy identified the blue pills, imprinted with "M30," as potential counterfeit pills that may contain fentanyl. Video surveillance reviewed by the academy staff showed three children who seemed to have ingested the pills. The parents of these children were informed, and both the children and two staff members received treatment at local hospitals. At least one child tested positive for fentanyl exposure.

The following day, March 19, 2025, the investigation was taken over by the Overdose Response Team from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Gang/Narcotic Divisions. Additional interviews were conducted with staff and parents as part of their inquiry into determining how the pills ended up at the facility.

"La Petite staff is cooperating with law enforcement to help determine the origin of the pills."
