In November 2024, maintenance employees at the Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA) noticed recurring vandalism on the glass windows of several public transit buses. The incidents were reported to Deputy Trevor James from the Sheriff's Victor Valley Transit Detail. An investigation was launched, and with assistance from VVTA staff, it was determined that 11 different buses had been vandalized with a consistent moniker over an eight-week period.
Deputy James gathered evidence pointing to Brayan Villanueva as the suspect in these acts of vandalism. The cost of repairing the damages has reached approximately $7,500 and is expected to increase.
On January 14, 2025, Villanueva was apprehended at a residence in Oro Grande and arrested for vandalism. He was booked at the High Desert Detention Center under PC 594(b)(1) for vandalism exceeding $400 and held on a $30,000 bail.
