Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh from Yucaipa has initiated a petition urging California residents to call on the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to delay a vote that may lead to significant gas price increases across the state. The proposed changes, part of CARB's Low-Carbon Fuel Standard program, could raise gas prices by 47 to 85 cents per gallon starting next year.

"California families are already stretched thin with high gas prices, and the overall high cost of living, that the last thing they need is another hidden hike pushed through without transparency," stated Senator Ochoa Bogh. "This petition is about giving Californians a voice and demanding that CARB provide clear answers about the impact of their policies on the cost of living. We’re calling on CARB to do the right thing—delay this vote until the real costs are fully disclosed to the public. Californians deserve to know exactly what they’re being asked to pay."

The scheduled vote is set for November 7 and 8 in Riverside, just three days after elections, with limited information shared with the public regarding its financial implications. The petition seeks full transparency before any decision is made.

Despite a request from 25 Republican legislators for more disclosure and a delay in voting, CARB has not formally responded. Steven Cliff, chief of CARB, mentioned that there are no plans to reassess gas price impacts as focus remains on broader aspects like economic growth and public health.
