A 35-year-old man, identified as Christopher Ochoa, was taken into custody after attempting a home invasion robbery in Rialto on March 30, 2024. Deputies from the Fontana Station responded to a residence on Gray Pine Place following a report of a man with a gun. Upon arrival, they found Ochoa armed with both a gun and an axe, knocking on the front door of the residence.

Despite numerous commands to drop the weapons, Ochoa failed to comply, raising the axe in a threatening manner towards the deputies, which led to a lethal force encounter. Fortunately, Ochoa was not injured by gunfire and was subsequently taken into custody. He was then transported to the hospital for medical treatment before being cleared for booking.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division has taken over the investigation, which is still ongoing. Ochoa has been booked for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer and attempted home invasion robbery. Additionally, he faces charges for a traffic warrant, with his total bail set at $125,000.
