Specialized detectives are investigating a lethal force encounter that took place in San Antonio Heights involving a 50-year-old resident of Fontana, Cesar Martha. According to the report, Martha was being followed and armed with a handgun when deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to a 9-1-1 call from him.

"Martha suddenly exited the area where he had been hiding and ran toward deputies, armed with the handgun," said the report.

Despite efforts to peacefully resolve the situation, Martha refused to surrender, leading to a lethal force encounter where he was struck by gunfire. Unfortunately, Martha succumbed to his injuries at the scene despite lifesaving measures by deputies.
