On February 24, 2024, detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, are investigating an apparent murder/suicide at a residence in Spring Valley Lake, located in the unincorporated area of Victorville.

According to Sheriff-Coroner Shannon D. Dicus, "Through investigation, it appears Luis murdered Claudia and then killed himself."

The tragic incident unfolded after the family of Claudia Urgiles reported her missing on February 22, 2024. Concerned for her welfare as she was unresponsive to calls, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station initiated a missing person report. Subsequently, on February 24, 2024, deputies executed a search warrant at the couple's residence on Vista Point Drive, where they discovered the lifeless bodies of Claudia and Luis Urgiles with apparent gunshot wounds.

The authorities have taken over the investigation, with Detective Antonio Alcala leading the case.
