WASHINGTON, DC — On May 26, Rep. Pete Aguilar led California Democrats in supporting a $700 million infrastructure project, which will alleviate air pollution and global warming emissions associated with medium- and heavy-duty vehicles. The letter was co-led by Rep. Grace Napolitano.

In a letter to Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Rep. Aguilar and California Democrats stated their support for a grant application from California, Oregon and Washington for the West Coast Truck Charging and Fueling Corridor Project through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure program.

In his letter to Secretary Buttigieg, Aguilar stressed that “cities and regions that will benefit from this project constitute the majority of the most polluted areas in the United States, based on the major categories of air pollution tracked by the American Lung Association.” Aguilar also stated that “The West Coast Truck Charging and Fueling Corridor is an important tri-state initiative” aimed at “increasing transportation safety, decreasing emissions and improving the local health of our constituents.”
