RANCHO CUCAMONGA, CA — Last week, Rep. Pete Aguilar donated 100 books from the Library of Congress’s Surplus Book Program to the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library to commemorate National Library Week. This program allows Members of Congress to select books that the Library of Congress is not using and send them to their districts.
“Investing in our public libraries is an investment in our children’s future,” said Rep. Pete Aguilar. “It is our responsibility to provide students with engaging educational programs and the resources they need to succeed from a young age. I look forward to seeing this book donation inspire a new generation of scientists, entrepreneurs and leaders here in the Inland Empire.
“This book contribution is an excellent addition to our growing collection of STEM themed resources.” said Rancho Cucamonga Public Library Acting Director Wess Garcia. “Congressman Aguilar’s continued support of the young learners and innovators in our community is greatly appreciated.”
Last year, Rep. Aguilar secured $1,000,000 in federal funding for the Rancho Cucamonga Public Library to support the Rancho Cucamonga Second Story and Beyond Project to develop STEM-related museum exhibits and educational programming for K-12 students.
