Rep. Pete Aguilar announced $86,750,000 of federal funding for the West Valley Connector project. This funding will help create an entirely zero-emission Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system in San Bernardino County. This project will improve accessibility throughout one of the most congested areas in San Bernardino County and reduce transit trip time by almost twenty-eight percent.

“For years, I’ve heard from residents asking for safe, affordable and reliable public transportation options,” said Rep. Pete Aguilar. “The funding I helped secure will create one of the most innovative transit corridors in the country, right here in the Inland Empire.

“Thanks to the West Valley Connector, people who live and work in San Bernadino County will have a faster, more affordable travel option to get to jobs, schools, and visit friends and family,” said FTA Administrator Nuria Fernandez.

“We’re so grateful to FTA, the Department of Transportation and U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg for their ongoing support of the West Valley Connector and the work we’re doing to build one of the most modern, efficient and innovative transit corridors in the United States,” said Art Bishop, President of SBCTA.

Rep. Aguilar serves as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and as a member of the House Committee on Appropriations.
