Neither the wind nor cold could keep away nearly 200 volunteers making a difference in San Bernardino.

On Thursday, January 26, the City of San Bernardino, in partnership with the County of San Bernardino, held its annual homeless Point in Time Count to determine the approximate number of homeless individuals living in the City. Similar Counts are being held across the country as part of a federal mandate created to identify the total number of unhoused individuals throughout the nation. The results of the Count are used in determining funding allotments for programs and services in local communities.

Volunteers from community organizations, neighborhood groups, and service providers arrived at San Manuel Stadium at 5:30 am for the Count. They partnered with members of the San Bernardino Office of Housing and Homelessness, San Bernardino Police Department, and San Bernardino Code Enforcement to conduct the count.

Joining the volunteers were Mayor Tran, Council Members Theodore Sanchez, Fred Shorett, and Damon Alexander, Supervisor Joe Baca Jr., and Good Day LA (Channel 11) who did a live shot from the control center at San Manuel Stadium.

Thank you, San Bernardino, for turning out in such great numbers for the 2023 Homeless Point-in-Time Count!!
