Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation, and the City of Redlands has experienced significant growth in Pickleball court use. The Community Center, which included two outdoor tennis courts, had been utilized up to this point to address the demand. However, the facility was not designed for Pickleball and was undersized to meet current and future demand.

Facility Profile

The Redlands Community Pickleball Courts offer 8 permanent courts with lights, fencing and security gates, netting, new net posts with brass winding gears, and a Plexipave playing surface.

Function

These public courts will offer organized play, open play, clinics, classes, and tournaments.

Court Size

Eight regulation pickleball courts 20′ x 44′ with 7-8′ in between courts.

Contractor

On December 7th, 2021 the City Council awarded a construction contract with Three Peaks Corporation in the amount of $309,160 for the conversion of tennis courts to eight permanent Pickleball courts at the Redlands Community Center to meet the public demand of the sport.  The project also included the relocation of four light poles to provide nighttime games and practices, fencing and security gates, netting, new net posts with brass winding gears, and a Plexipave playing surface.

Funding Sources

This project would not be possible without the support of Measure T funding. On the November 2020 ballot, 57.35% of the Voters in the 2020 election approved Measure T, allowing for the collection of a one-cent sales tax. These funds are allowing the City to keep public areas, parks and recreation facilities well-maintained and free of graffiti and add new public infrastructure including Pickelball Courts.

Outdoor Dinning & Viewing Area

An outdoor dining and viewing area will be constructed and completed by December 2022. This new area will be adjacent to the courts and will include an outdoor drinking fountain, patio cover, and ADA access to the courts directly from the Redlands Community Senior Center.

Operational Hours

Effective September 26th, 2022 the Redlands Pickleball Courts will host organized play incorporating a player rotation with specific rules to follow for all to participate on:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The courts will also be open to the public for general open play on the following days and times:
