Upon arrival, deputies discovered Roger Albarran, a 52-year-old resident of Fontana, inside his vehicle with a gunshot wound. Albarran was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

On June 18, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., deputies from the Central Station and the Specialized Enforcement Detail attempted to serve an arrest warrant at a residence in the 1900 block of W. Mallory Street in Muscoy, San Bernardino. The subject of the warrant, Fredy Castillo Cabrales, allegedly pointed a firearm at law enforcement officers, resulting in a lethal force encounter (LFE). Cabrales was struck by gunfire and subsequently transported to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.
