On October 10, 2024, at around 9:53 a.m., maintenance staff at Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center observed smoke coming from the laundry building. Deputies acted promptly to control the fire and informed San Bernardino County Fire. Firefighters arrived swiftly, managing to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading further.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted by San Bernardino County Fire Investigators and the Sheriff's Arson/Bomb Detail. Fortunately, there were no inmates or employees present in the laundry facility when the fire occurred, and no injuries were reported.

Recently, Glen Helen Rehabilitation Center began a remodeling process. Currently, fewer than 50 inmates are housed there, with plans for their relocation to other county jail facilities underway.
