The 25th Annual San Bernardino County Sheriff’s P.R.C.A. Rodeo will take place at Glen Helen Regional Park from Friday, September 27th through Sunday, September 29th. The event will feature top professional cowboys and cowgirls performing in various rodeo disciplines including bareback and saddle bronc riding, bull riding, steer wrestling, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and team roping. Professional Rodeo Clown JJ Harrison will also perform.
Friday night's rodeo is dedicated to raising awareness of domestic violence. The event will support the “Man Up Crusade” with a donation to a local domestic violence shelter. Attendees are encouraged to wear purple to show their support.
On Saturday, the focus shifts to breast cancer awareness with the theme “Are you Tough Enough to Wear Pink?” Funds raised will be donated to Loma Linda University Hospital for breast cancer awareness.
A dance featuring Shotgun Jefferson, a Southern California-based country band, will follow both Friday and Saturday night’s rodeos under the big tent.
Sunday’s performance honors military and public safety personnel. The U.S. Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard from Barstow will post the colors followed by a moment of silence before the event begins. Donations from this day will go to The Sheriff’s Athletic Federation.
The SEBA Stampede Kids’ Zone is another highlight of the rodeo, offering activities such as a petting zoo, bounce houses, games, and candy. Sponsored by the Sheriff’s Employees’ Benefits Association (SEBA), this area is designed for children and run by volunteers from SEBA.
“It is so awesome to see so many kids smiling and laughing and running around in the SEBA Stampede Kids’ Zone,” said SEBA President Sgt. Grant Ward. “We love being able to provide this area for families who attend the rodeo so they can have a safe place to bring their kids.”
