Between August 3 and August 9, 2024, investigators from the Sheriff's Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, and multiple patrol stations collaborated with personnel from the California Highway Patrol, Upland Police Department, Fontana Police Department, Montclair Police Department, San Bernardino County Probation, United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations in a targeted crime suppression effort named Operation Consequences.

During this one-week period, which included a focused operation in Victorville and surrounding county areas on August 9, authorities executed 11 search warrants across Wrightwood, Phelan, Victorville, and Grand Terrace. These actions led to contact with gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. The operation resulted in the seizure of 14 firearms—six of which were ghost guns—and 57 felony arrests. Additionally, over 16 pounds of suspected methamphetamine were recovered.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has authorized funds to assist with county-wide crime suppression efforts. This funding aims to bolster the Sheriff’s Department's capacity to address quality-of-life issues impacting local communities.

Operation Consequences is set to continue over several months focusing on targeted crime suppression operations as well as parole and probation checks within the High Desert and other areas under the Sheriff's jurisdiction around San Bernardino. Personnel involved will include members from the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, various patrol stations along with support from California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Probation. The United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force and Department of Homeland Security Investigations are also participating. The goal is to curb violent crime by disrupting criminal street gangs and apprehending individuals involved in illegal firearm activities.
