San Bernardino and Riverside Counties are set to launch the 4th Annual Operation Holiday Cheer, an initiative designed to bring holiday spirit to area hospitals. The event will feature a parade of police cars from the Inland Empire, with lights and sirens activated, visiting hospitals in both counties. The aim is to express gratitude to healthcare workers who have been working tirelessly.
The parade will commence on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 9 a.m., with law enforcement agencies from San Bernardino and Riverside Counties participating simultaneously in their respective regions. In San Bernardino County, the procession will begin in the high desert and proceed until all registered hospitals have been visited.
On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the parade will resume at 9 a.m. in the valley for San Bernardino County while continuing in hospital areas within Riverside County. Both counties' final destination will be Loma Linda University.
The event is supported by sponsors including Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the Sheriff’s Employee Benefits Association (SEBA), Western States Regional Council of Carpenters, and Woody’s Restaurant in Grand Terrace. Over 29 law enforcement agencies from various levels of government will cover more than 300 miles during this operation. Now in its fourth year, Operation Holiday Cheer has expanded beyond San Bernardino and Riverside Counties to include San Luis Obispo, San Benito, and Santa Barbara Counties.
Community members are encouraged to show their support by honking and waving as the parade passes by as a gesture of thanks to frontline workers.
