On June 16, 2024, at approximately 12:19 p.m., deputies at the West Valley Detention Center discovered inmate Deshaun Stamps had escaped custody during an outside recreation period. Stamps, a 29-year-old resident of Riverside, has been in custody since January 30, 2023, for attempted murder.

Stamps is described as a black male adult, standing 5’11” tall and weighing approximately 170 pounds. He has green eyes, is bald, and has tattoos on his neck and head. It was unknown what clothing he might have been wearing at the time of his escape.

Authorities urged anyone with information on Stamps' whereabouts to call 911 and not attempt to make contact with him. Callers wishing to remain anonymous were encouraged to use the We-Tip Hotline or leave information on the We-Tip website.

On June 17, 2024, Deshaun Stamps was located in Los Angeles and taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department. "We are currently working with the Los Angeles Police Department to take custody of Stamps," said officials from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department. They extended their thanks to both the Los Angeles Police Department and the public for their assistance in locating Stamps.

For further inquiries or information related to this case (Case No. 342400696), individuals were directed to contact the Public Affairs Division at West Valley Detention Center via phone at (909) 387-3700.
