On June 3, 2024, Miguel Rosales, a 40-year-old resident of Azusa, and Iveth Carrion, a 39-year-old resident of Whittier, were arrested by investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for conspiracy to commit commercial burglary. The arrests followed an extensive investigation into a series of thefts at TJX Company stores in San Bernardino County and surrounding areas between September 2023 and May 2024. The suspects allegedly stole merchandise valued at approximately $5,359.78.

The investigation was conducted by the Gangs/Narcotics Division of the Sheriff's Department in collaboration with TJX Company Retail Crime investigators. Ramey Warrants were issued for both suspects based on evidence gathered during the investigation.

During their arrest, Rosales and Carrion were found in possession of about $2,000 worth of stolen property. They have been booked into the Central Detention Center with bail set at $50,000 for Rosales and $30,000 for Carrion.

The arrests are part of Operation Smash & Grab, an initiative launched by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department in response to a rise in retail thefts involving organized crews. These crimes often include robberies, burglaries, shelve sweeps, and vandalism that create unsafe shopping environments through intimidation tactics.

Operation Smash & Grab targets shopping districts in Rancho Cucamonga, Apple Valley, Hesperia, Victorville, and Chino Hills with the aim of disrupting these theft crews using both conventional and non-conventional investigative methods.

Funding for this operation has been authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to enhance county-wide crime suppression efforts. This funding is intended to support increased law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues affecting local communities.
