Investigators Arrest Two Adelanto Suspects for Child Abuse and Child Sex Charges

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Victor Valley Station, arrested two suspects in Adelanto for child abuse and child sex charges. Carlos Omar Moreno, 37, and Maria Del Carmen Esquivel, 43, both residents of Adelanto, were taken into custody following an investigation.

On Monday, February 5, 2024, authorities launched a probe into a child sexual abuse case involving Moreno and two victims. The investigation culminated in the arrest of Moreno and Esquivel on Tuesday, March 13, 2024. Moreno was charged with "violation of California Penal Code sections 288(a), Lewd & Lascivious Acts with a child under 14 years of age" and "Penal Code 289(a)(1)(B), Sexual Penetration w/a Foreign Object." Esquivel, on the other hand, was held for "violation of California Penal Code section PC 273a(a) Child Abuse."
