Senator Ochoa Bogh (R-Yucaipa) has honored Anita Worthen as the 23rd Senate District’s Woman of the Year 2024.

“I am moved by Anita's unwavering dedication to serving our veterans,” said Senator Ochoa Bogh. “Her tireless efforts to improve the lives of military families have a profound impact on our community, and I am honored to recognize her as the 23rd Senate District Woman of the Year in 2024. Thank you for inspiring us all with your commitment and passion. Anita's humble demeanor coupled with her tenacious character makes her a powerful force. She gets things done because nobody can dare say 'No' to Mrs. Worthen.”

Worthen is the founder of the Pass Area Veterans Expo, an annual event held in Beaumont that serves as a crucial platform for military personnel, veterans, and their families to connect with necessary services. Under Worthen's leadership, the Expo has become a regional success, drawing support from an extensive network of community members and service organizations. The event now attracts more than 300 veterans and their families each year.

Worthen is also the widow of a Vietnam War veteran, further underscoring her dedication to assisting veterans and their families in the community.

The Woman of the Year award is given annually by each California legislator in their district to celebrate California’s extraordinary women. The first recognition was held in 1987 to commemorate Women’s History Month, becoming an annual Capitol tradition that salutes women who have performed outstanding community service.
