Senator Suzette Martinez Valladares of Santa Clarita has expressed concern over the rising utility rates in California. Following a report by the Legislative Analyst’s Office, she commented on the affordability challenges faced by residents in the state.
"The affordability crisis in California is out of control," said Senator Valladares. She highlighted that families are paying almost twice as much for utilities compared to other states, face higher gasoline prices, and encounter difficulties securing affordable home insurance.
She attributed these high costs to "the super majority’s aggressive regulations" and emphasized the need for immediate action. "Californians need relief," she stated, indicating her willingness to collaborate with colleagues across party lines to tackle these issues and make living in California more affordable.
