On November 19, 2024, law enforcement agencies conducted a joint operation named "Operation Consequences" in various locations including San Bernardino, Redlands, Riverside, Colton, El Monte, Rialto, and Ontario. The effort involved the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department – Gangs/Narcotics Division and Specialized Enforcement Division, as well as other local and federal agencies such as Homeland Security Investigations and the FBI.
The operation targeted individuals with outstanding warrants related to criminal street gang activity. It resulted in the arrest of 19 felony suspects and the seizure of significant quantities of illegal substances and firearms. Specifically, authorities confiscated 43 firearms, including two ghost guns; $86,000 in U.S. currency; 46 pounds of powdered fentanyl; four pounds of cocaine; 336 pounds of methamphetamine; 19 pounds of M-30 marked fentanyl pills; and nine pounds of heroin.
Funding for this initiative was provided by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to enhance crime suppression efforts across the county. The objective is to bolster law enforcement services to address quality-of-life issues impacting local communities.
Future operations under "Operation Consequences" will concentrate on reducing violent crime by dismantling criminal street gangs and apprehending those illegally involved with firearms. These activities are planned to continue over several months in areas like the High Desert and around San Bernardino city.
