Between October 12 and October 18, 2024, law enforcement agencies collaborated in a targeted crime suppression effort known as Operation Consequences. The operation involved investigators from the Sheriff's Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, and multiple patrol stations. They were joined by personnel from the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, Upland Police Department, Fontana Police Department, Montclair Police Department, Barstow Police Department, Chino Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security Investigations.

During this week-long initiative focused on areas surrounding San Bernardino and nearby cities on October 18, 2024, five search warrants were executed in Chino, Fontana, San Bernardino, and Bloomington. The operation led to contact with gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. Authorities made 11 felony arrests and 18 misdemeanor arrests. Additionally, they seized ten firearms including one ghost gun and recovered illegal narcotics and marijuana.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has authorized funding for county-wide crime suppression to provide additional resources to the Sheriff's Department. This funding aims to enhance law enforcement services related to quality-of-life issues affecting communities within the county.

Operation Consequences is set to continue over several months with an emphasis on conducting targeted crime suppression operations as well as parole and probation checks in the High Desert and areas under the Sheriff’s jurisdiction around San Bernardino. Personnel involved will include members from various divisions such as the Sheriff’s Gangs/Narcotics Division and Specialized Enforcement Division alongside state-level entities like the California Highway Patrol.

"Operation Consequences will focus on conducting targeted crime suppression operations...to curb violent crime," stated officials regarding their objectives which include disrupting criminal street gangs and addressing illegal firearm activities.
