On October 3, 2024, a lethal force encounter occurred in Loma Linda when deputies from the Central Station responded to a call at a residence on Snowden Avenue. Upon arrival, they found Edward Jensen Dass, a 39-year-old resident of Loma Linda, holding a knife. Despite several commands from the deputy to drop the weapon, Dass advanced toward him. The situation resulted in the use of lethal force by the deputies.
Following the incident, deputies attempted lifesaving measures; however, Dass was pronounced dead at the scene. The Sheriff's Specialized Investigations Division has taken over the investigation. Dass's body was transported to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.
