Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh has announced a new legislation aimed at enhancing sexual health education for students. The bill, Senate Bill 1368, seeks to include information about licensed pregnancy centers in the curriculum, providing students with a broader understanding of local resources for sexual health, pregnancy, and beyond.
According to Senator Ochoa Bogh, SB 1368 will not replace current curriculum or existing resources. The Senator will be holding a press conference on Wednesday, April 24 to discuss the details of the bill before presenting it to the Senate Education Committee.
Joining Senator Ochoa Bogh at the press conference will be advocates such as Kathleen Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Life Choice Pregnancy Center, Kellee Bradford, a mother with firsthand experience with Licensed Pregnancy Centers, Janette Chun, President of California Alliance of Pregnancy Care, and Angela Cox, RN at Sacramento Life Center.
The press conference will take place at the Southwest side of the State Capitol between 10th and 11th near N Street, starting at 8:00 a.m. Following the press conference, Senator Ochoa Bogh and advocates will proceed to the Senate Education Committee where the bill will be presented for further discussion.
For those who are unable to attend in person, a livestream of the press conference and the Senate Education Committee hearing will be available online.
