The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has announced the addition of seven deputies to enhance public safety within the 1st Supervisorial District in California. This initiative, a joint effort between Sheriff Shannon Dicus and Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors, Col. Paul Cook (ret.), aims to strengthen law enforcement presence and community engagement in the High Desert Communities.
Col. Paul Cook (ret.), Vice Chair of the Board of Supervisors, highlighted the importance of this development, stating, “The safety of our communities is always a top priority. By adding additional law enforcement resources to the 1st District, we are continuing our promise to protect the quality of life for our residents.”
The deployment of these seven additional deputies will focus on priority crime prevention zones and proactive policing efforts across the district. Their responsibilities will include community patrols, emergency response, and proactive crime prevention measures.
Funded by the 2023-2024 adopted budget by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, these deputies are set to begin their duties on May 4, 2024. The move underscores a proactive approach by the Sheriff’s Department and the Board of Supervisors to ensure the safety and well-being of residents and small businesses in the area.
Sheriff Shannon Dicus, the 36th Sheriff-Coroner of San Bernardino County, leads the law enforcement agency that serves over 2.1 million residents. With eight county and 14 contract patrol stations and over 4,200 employees, the department is committed to upholding the quality and safety of the community it serves.
