REP. AGUILAR DELIVERS OVER $125 MILLION TO LOWER COSTS AND INCREASE ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR INLAND EMPIRE HOUSEHOLDS

35

Rep. Aguilar announced $125,309,027 in Weatherization Assistance Program funding, which will help lower costs and increase energy efficiency for residents in the Inland Empire and across the state of California. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act expanded this program to help families weatherize their homes. Weatherization Assistance Program modifications include updating heating and cooling systems, upgrading electrical appliances, installing insulation and other common-sense changes to keep homes cooler and warmer as needed, while using less energy.

“We have to do all we can to lower energy costs for American families,” said Rep. Aguilar. “This expanded funding for the Weatherization Assistance Program will lower utility bills and expand access to clean energy for families in our community. Investments like this are why I voted to pass this bill and I look forward to seeing this law continue to benefit our region.”

The Weatherization Assistance Program was created in 1976 and has served over seven million households, delivering an average of $372 in annual energy savings for American families.

Rep. Aguilar serves as the Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus and as a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, the committee responsible for funding federal programs and agencies.
