Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, who represents California’s 23rd Senate District, recently addressed constituents and broader issues through a series of posts on her official X account.
On September 8, 2025, Senator Ochoa Bogh invited residents to an upcoming community event, stating: “Attention Big Bear Lake residents! I’m hosting a town hall at Hofert Hall on 9/16 at 6:30 p.m. I welcome residents to listen and share your concerns with me about issues in your community. My town halls are family-friendly events, and youth are encouraged to attend.” She followed up with logistical details in a subsequent post the same day: “RSVP at https://t.co/Zl6GYOKaUY. For more information, please contact my District Office at (909) 335-0271.”
Later that evening, Senator Ochoa Bogh highlighted concerns about literacy rates in California. In her post dated September 8, she wrote: “Reading can transform lives. Unfortunately, California has one of the lowest literacy rates in the U.S., with about 77% of adults considered mid- to highly literate and around 28% scoring at the lowest levels. New Hampshire leads the nation with about 94–95% literacy.”
According to recent data from World Population Review and U.S. Census Bureau reports, California continues to face challenges regarding adult literacy rates compared to other states. While approximately three-quarters of California adults demonstrate moderate or high literacy skills, nearly one-third score at basic or below-basic levels—placing the state among those with significant room for improvement nationally.
Senator Ochoa Bogh’s engagement reflects ongoing efforts by public officials to address both immediate community concerns through local forums and broader educational challenges affecting their constituencies.
