California State Senator Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh (R–Yucaipa) released a video statement following Governor Gavin Newsom’s State of the State address, expressing concerns about ongoing challenges faced by California residents.
“After years of one-party control under Governor Gavin Newsom, the results do not match what is promised. While the governor celebrates his victory, families have to work extra shifts,” said Senator Ochoa Bogh. “While the speeches sound positive, the numbers at the kitchen table do not add up. California is the fourth largest economy in the world. We should be doing much better.”
Ochoa Bogh criticized the governor’s speech for largely overlooking issues related to quality of life in California. She cited data from the Public Policy Institute of California, noting that since 2020, families are paying about 25% more for essential goods such as housing and food, and nearly 40% more for utilities and gasoline during Newsom’s tenure. The senator also highlighted declining economic opportunities and difficulties facing students across the state.
“It is time to give fewer rosy news stories and get more results. If we focus on real solutions and demand accountability, we can build a California where families not only survive but thrive,” concluded Senator Ochoa Bogh.
