San Bernardino man rearrested for attempted vehicle burglary

On May 8, 2025, Manuel Nunez-Palomino was arrested by the San Bernardino Police for an outstanding misdemeanor traffic warrant and subsequently booked into the Central Detention Center. The following day, at approximately 12:18 p.m., Nunez-Palomino was released from custody.

Shortly after his release, security surveillance cameras captured Nunez-Palomino walking through the employee parking lot of the detention center. He was observed attempting to open several vehicle doors belonging to Sheriff’s Department employees.

Deputy Cupid responded to the scene and witnessed Nunez-Palomino opening an unlocked passenger door of an occupied vehicle. The driver, who did not know Nunez-Palomino, feared a robbery attempt and ordered him to exit the vehicle. Despite Deputy Cupid’s order to stop, Nunez-Palomino fled on foot but was detained after a brief pursuit.

Nunez-Palomino has been charged with attempted vehicle burglary. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Central Detention Center at 909-386-0910. Anonymous tips can be submitted via We-Tip at 1-800-78-CRIME (27463) or wetip.com.
