A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy has been arrested following an investigation into allegations of criminal conduct while on duty. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, Deputy Cameron Romo, 27, was taken into custody on August 5, 2025, after felony charges were filed by the District Attorney’s Office.
The investigation began in June 2024 when a citizen complaint was lodged against Romo. The department immediately placed him on administrative leave and assigned the Specialized Investigations Division to examine the claims. Authorities determined that Romo had committed multiple criminal acts during his time as a deputy at the Hesperia Station.
After completing their inquiry, investigators submitted their findings to the District Attorney’s Office. On August 4, 2025, prosecutors filed felony charges of extortion and soliciting a bribe under Penal Code sections 518 and 68. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for Romo.
Romo was arrested at approximately 8:00 a.m. on August 5 by members of the Specialized Investigations Division and booked at Central Detention Center with bail set at $90,000. He had been employed as a deputy since September 2020 and had worked at the Hesperia Station since August 2021.

“This is unfortunate that a Deputy Sheriff would engage in this type of behavior. I am proud of all the investigators involved in bringing this case to the District Attorney’s Office so he can be held accountable.” Shannon Dicus, Sheriff-Coroner
