Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department have arrested two men in connection with an alleged attempt to bring drugs into the High Desert Detention Center. The investigation identified Jose Ramirez, a 41-year-old inmate at the facility, and Alfred Johnson, a 35-year-old resident of Victorville, as suspects in a conspiracy to smuggle controlled substances into the jail.
Authorities served a search warrant on August 8, 2025, at a residence in Hesperia. During this operation, investigators confiscated various controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search was conducted on August 15, 2025, at another residence in Victorville. This second search led to the seizure of additional controlled substances, firearms, and drug paraphernalia.
Alfred Johnson was taken into custody and charged with conspiracy to smuggle drugs into a secure jail facility along with other related charges. Jose Ramirez remains in custody at the High Desert Detention Center and will be additionally booked for his involvement.
“On July 16, 2025, investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department discovered Jose Ramirez, an inmate at the High Desert Detention Center, conspired to smuggle drugs into the High Desert Detention Center with another male, Alfred Johnson.”
“Investigators conducted a thorough investigation, which led to a search warrant that was served on August 8, 2025, at a residence in Hesperia, where various controlled substances and drug paraphernalia were confiscated.”
“On August 15, 2025, a subsequent search warrant was served at a residence in Victorville, where additional controlled substances, firearms, and drug paraphernalia were confiscated. Johnson was arrested and charged with conspiracy to smuggle drugs into a secure jail facility and numerous other related charges. Ramirez, who is currently in custody, will be suplementally booked for the charges above.”
