San Bernardino County Sheriff reports fatal shooting in Hesperia, suspect arrested

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced on May 11 that a fatal shooting occurred in the 9000 block of Second Avenue in Hesperia, resulting in the death of Adrian Clay Wrice, age 50. Deputies responded at approximately 10:45 p.m. to a report of a male who had been shot and found Wrice suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving measures and airlifting him to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, Wrice was pronounced deceased.

According to the sheriff’s department, an initial investigation identified Talib Elisha Venegas, age 30 and brother of the victim, as the suspect. Venegas reportedly fled before deputies arrived at the scene. The Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail took over the case and an arrest warrant was issued for Venegas. With assistance from the Specialized Enforcement Division, authorities located and arrested Venegas. He is currently being held without bail at High Desert Detention Center.

The incident underscores ongoing law enforcement efforts to address violent crime within San Bernardino County communities. The sheriff’s department said anyone with information about this case should contact its Homicide Detail or use anonymous reporting options provided online or via text.
