In response to recent violence targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities nationwide, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has increased patrols near the GEO Adelanto ICE Processing Center in Adelanto, California. The move aims to enhance safety for residents, personnel, and detainees in the area.
The GEO Adelanto ICE Processing Center is privately owned and operated by the GEO Group under contract with ICE. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department does not handle immigration enforcement or provide staff inside the facility. However, because the city of Adelanto contracts with the Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement services, deputies are responsible for public safety in surrounding areas.
According to the department, there is no direct threat to either the public or the facility at this time. Increased patrols and active monitoring are precautionary measures taken in coordination with federal partners.
Sheriff Shannon Dicus said, “With all the violence happening across the country, your deputies remain vigilant. Please partner with us and if you see something, say something, even threats on social media. We will respond in a significant manner to any extremist activity in this county.”
The department encourages residents to report emergencies by calling 9-1-1. Suspicious activity can be reported through non-emergency numbers or anonymously via We-Tip.
