Between April 7 and April 13, 2025, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a crime suppression operation named “Operation Consequences.” This initiative involved personnel from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, local patrol stations, and partner agencies, focusing on addressing crime in the High Desert and areas around the city of San Bernardino.
During the operation, a search warrant was served in Phelan, and suspects were contacted across the county. The investigators seized three firearms, including a ghost gun, and confiscated illegal narcotics. The operation concluded with nine felony arrests and 19 misdemeanor arrests.
This effort follows California voters’ approval of Proposition 36, known as “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act,” on November 5, 2024. Effective from December 18, 2024, the proposition introduces reforms to laws, formerly under Proposition 47, aimed at reducing homelessness, drug addiction, and theft. Proposition 36’s new codes, which include enhanced sentencing, applied to two arrests during this operation.
Funds for “Operation Consequences” have been authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to enhance law enforcement services targeting quality of life issues in the community. The operation involves a collaborative effort with the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations. The aim is to reduce violent crime, dismantle criminal street gangs, and address illegal firearm activities.
“Operation Consequences” is expected to run over the coming months as part of an ongoing strategy to address these crime issues.

The operation was led by Shannon D. Dicus, Sheriff-Coroner, San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
