Between April 28 and May 4, 2025, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a targeted crime suppression operation named “Operation Consequences.” The operation involved investigators from the Gangs/Narcotics Division, deputies from patrol stations, and personnel from partnering agencies. They served three search warrants in Adelanto, San Bernardino, and Rialto.
During this period, law enforcement contacted gang members and individuals prohibited from possessing firearms. As a result of their efforts, four firearms were seized, including one ghost gun. Additionally, suspected cocaine and over three pounds of suspected methamphetamine were confiscated. The operation led to nine felony arrests and 13 misdemeanor arrests.
The recent passage of Proposition 36 by California voters on November 5, 2024, played a role in two of these arrests. This proposition aims to address issues related to homelessness, drug addiction, and theft by reforming laws established under Proposition 47. It introduces new Penal and Health and Safety Codes that allow for enhanced sentencing and prevent offenders from being released before their court appearance.
The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors has authorized funds for county-wide crime suppression to enhance law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues in the community. Operation Consequences will focus on reducing violent crime and dismantling criminal street gangs in the High Desert area and around San Bernardino city. It involves multiple agencies including the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police Department, San Bernardino County Probation, United States Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
This operation is expected to continue over several months with the goal of curbing violent crime and targeting illegal firearm activities.
