Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, along with deputies and personnel from partnering agencies, conducted targeted crime suppression operations between May 5 and May 11, 2025. The operation took place in various locations including San Bernardino, Phelan, and Yucaipa. During this period, law enforcement served four search warrants and made contact with suspects across the county.
The operation led to the seizure of two firearms, one of which was a ghost gun. Additionally, suspected methamphetamine, heroin, and cocaine were confiscated. A total of 28 arrests were made: 14 for felony charges and 14 for misdemeanor offenses.
The enforcement actions come in the wake of Proposition 36’s approval by California voters on November 5, 2024. This legislation aims to address issues related to homelessness, drug addiction, and theft by reforming laws established under Proposition 47. Proposition 36 introduces new legal codes that can enhance sentencing and prevent offenders from being released before their court appearances. Two arrests during this operation fell under these new provisions.
Funding for these operations has been authorized by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors to support county-wide crime suppression efforts. The objective is to enhance law enforcement services addressing quality-of-life issues within the community.
Operation Consequences is set to continue over several months focusing on reducing violent crime and disrupting criminal street gangs. The initiative will involve multiple divisions within the Sheriff’s Department as well as collaboration with other law enforcement agencies including the California Highway Patrol and U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force.
