Rep. Pete Aguilar, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 33rd district since 2015, used his social media platform to criticize former President Donald Trump for the economic impact of ongoing hostilities with Iran, particularly on working Americans.
On May 12, 2026, Aguilar posted: “Trump just admitted what we’ve known all along: he doesn’t care how his war with Iran is hurting working Americans’ wallets.”
The following day, he shared another post highlighting local consequences: “Gas prices in San Bernardino today thanks to Trump.” This tweet referenced the rise in fuel costs that residents are experiencing.
Later on May 13, Aguilar continued his criticism by addressing broader financial pressures faced by Californians: “Hardworking Californians are already struggling to afford groceries, healthcare and utilities, and now it’s even more expensive to fill up your gas tank thanks to Trump’s war with Iran. Working people are paying the price for Trump’s reckless war of choice.”
Aguilar was born in Fontana, California in 1979 and currently resides in Redlands. He graduated from the University of Redlands in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Before entering Congress, he replaced Gary Miller as representative for California’s district.
These statements come amid heightened public debate over foreign policy decisions and their domestic economic effects.
