Rep. Pete Aguilar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 33rd district since 2015, has recently used his social media platform to criticize several Trump administration policies and recent legislative actions by Republicans.
On May 13, 2026, Aguilar posted that he questioned Housing Secretary Scott Turner regarding new housing policies under the Trump administration. He stated: “I grilled Housing Secretary Scott Turner about the Trump administration’s new housing policies that are displacing American citizens from their homes—including families and children.”
The following day, on May 14, Aguilar addressed concerns about food insecurity in the United States, writing: “Families–especially children–should not be going hungry in the wealthiest nation on earth. But thanks to Trump and Republicans’ Big Ugly Law, this is the reality for millions of Americans.”
On May 15, Aguilar commented on congressional spending decisions: “Republicans just voted to spend $152 million of YOUR taxpayer dollars to reopen Alcatraz. I wish I was joking.”
Aguilar, who was born in Fontana, California in 1979 and currently resides in Redlands, has a background rooted in public service within his home state. He graduated from the University of Redlands with a Bachelor of Science degree in 2001. Before entering Congress in 2015, he succeeded Gary Miller as representative for California’s 33rd district.
