Rep. Pete Aguilar, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 33rd district since 2015, posted a series of statements on April 1, 2026, addressing current political issues involving voting rights and recent Congressional actions.

In his first post at 15:37 UTC, Aguilar stated: “The law of the land is clear: if you’re born in America, you are an American. The Supreme Court must defend the Constitution from Trump’s attempt to unlawfully rewrite the 14th Amendment.”

Later that day at 16:44 UTC, he commented on voting policies and former President Donald Trump’s stance on mail-in ballots: “Trump wants to make it harder to vote by mail because he knows voters are tired of costly Republican policies and won’t be on his side in November—despite voting by mail himself LAST WEEK. This voter suppression scheme is nothing but a desperate attempt to hold onto power.”

In a subsequent post at 21:00 UTC, Aguilar addressed recent legislative developments concerning federal agencies: “After shutting down DHS for nearly 50 days over their refusal to rein in ICE, House Republicans CAVED and agreed to pass Democrats’ bipartisan bill to fund critical agencies like FEMA and TSA. This could’ve been done last week, but Republicans chose to drag out this shutdown.”

Aguilar was born in Fontana, California in 1979 and resides in Redlands. He earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Redlands in 2001.
