Rep. Pete Aguilar, who represents California’s 33rd district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media between September 29 and October 1, 2025, addressing health care advocacy, the government shutdown, and Yom Kippur.
On September 29, Aguilar wrote: “House Democrats and Democrats in the Senate stand united in advocating for health care in our country.”
Two days later, on October 1, he issued a statement regarding Congressional Republicans’ actions related to government funding: “My statement on Congressional Republicans’ decision to shut down the government rather than work with Democrats on a bipartisan funding bill that protects Americans’ health care.”
Later that same day, Aguilar extended greetings to those observing Yom Kippur: “Wishing all who observe Yom Kippur in the Inland Empire and around the world a meaningful and reflective fast. G’mar Chatima Tovah”
Aguilar has served as a member of Congress since 2015 after succeeding Gary Miller. He was born in Fontana, California in 1979 and currently resides in Redlands. Aguilar is an alumnus of the University of Redlands, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 2001.
