Pete Aguilar, currently serving as a U.S. Congress representative for California’s 33rd district, recently took to social media to share his thoughts on various national issues. Aguilar, who has been in Congress since replacing Gary Miller in 2015, gives his opinions on labor rights, national security, and economic policies.
On March 31, 2025, Rep. Aguilar commemorated the legacy of César Chávez. In his post, he highlighted Chávez’s influence, saying, “Today, we honor the life and legacy of César Chávez, a labor and civil rights leader whose tireless activism continues to impact the lives of many.” Aguilar further remarked on Chávez’s efforts to ensure fair wages and treatment, positioning these as central to achieving the American Dream for many families.
The following day, April 1, 2025, Aguilar expressed his concerns regarding the Trump Administration’s governance. He stated, “The Trump Administration’s incompetence is jeopardizing our national security, crashing the economy, and dismantling Social Security.” Aguilar urged the public to tune into a hearing by House Democrats intended to illustrate the negative impacts on seniors.
On April 2, 2025, Aguilar criticized former President Donald Trump’s economic policies, particularly tariffs. He reflected on Trump’s promise versus the resultant economic implications, stating, “Donald Trump promised to lower prices on day one, but his reckless tariffs are only going to make things worse for Americans dealing with the high cost of living.” Aguilar further blamed Republican actions for economic destabilization.
